304 Stainless Steel Pipe is ideal for all structural applications requiring increased strength and superior corrosion resistance. Stainless steel tubing has a durable ground finish and internal welds and is widely used in all types of fabrication projects that are exposed to the elements such as chemical, acidic, freshwater, and saltwater environments. Some sizes are available in a 180-grit brushed finish. Stainless steel is durable, resistant to aggressive chemicals, aggressive liquids, oils, and gases, and able to withstand pressure and high temperatures. Type 304 stainless steel is a chromium-nickel material that resists corrosion caused by water, heat, salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils. Type 316 stainless steel has a higher nickel content than 304 stainless steel and also contains molybdenum for better resistance to aggressive chemicals, aggressive liquids, oils, and gases, and to withstand pressure and high temperatures. 304 pipe and fittings connect air, water, natural gas, steam, and chemicals to storage tanks as well as residential plumbing, kitchen, and food applications. 316 pipes are connected with pipe fittings to transport air, water, natural gas, steam, and chemicals in chemical manufacturing, industrial chemical transportation, food production, and processing. Stainless steel is available for pipe lengths over 12" and fittings 12" and shorter. Stainless steel pipes are mainly used in piping systems for conveying liquids or gases. We manufacture steel pipes from steel alloys containing nickel and chromium, which give stainless steel its corrosion-resistant properties. Stainless steel tubing resists oxidation, making it a low-maintenance solution for high-temperature and chemical applications. Due to the ease of cleaning and sanitizing, stainless steel tubing is also suitable for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical applications. Stainless steel pipes are usually manufactured using a welding process or extrusion process. The welding process involves forming the steel into a tube and then welding the seams together to maintain the shape. Extrusion creates a seamless product and involves heating a steel rod, which is then pierced through the middle to form a pipe. The terms "pipe" and "tube" are often used to describe the same product, but it's important to understand the difference. Although they have the same cylindrical shape, steel pipes are measured by the inside diameter (ID), while steel pipes are measured by the outside diameter (OD) and wall thickness. Another difference is that pipes are used to transport fluids and gases while tubes are used to build parts or structural components. This general category of steel is appropriate for applications that require corrosion resistance above other traits. Ferritic or martensitic types of steel (those made with the most chromium) are manufactured to be either heat-treated or annealed. Austenitic Stainless steels (those with high chromium and nickel contents) offer even more resistance, and can be used under the same general conditions as ferritic and martensitic types.
